Another tourist's web page of a recent Tokyo trip is
Kelly's photo diary. We stayed in the
Yaesu Fujiya Hotel
near the Tokyo railroad station (Ginza).
Photo 5, There was no sumo wrestling match
on June 28, so we took in a baseball game at the
Tokyo Dome. Osaka Buffaloes
vs. the Tokyo Fighters. The Buffalos led off with 2 homeruns and 5 runs
in the first inning, and eventually won 7-6.
Lee Roberts follows a long ball into the far bleachers.
Photo 6, Harold Kirk, in our seats behind
3rd base. In back: the Buffalo fan club bleachers.
Photo 7, Lee, Kirk.

7th inning stretch.
Photo 11, Rent-a-cop dancing to "YMCA" during
the 7th inning stretch.
Photo 12, Lee, Harold, in a sushi parlor
in the sub-basement of the Ginza Core; enter from the "alley" half a block
south of Chou Dori and west of Harumi Dori. Probably the Tama-Zushi
restaurant, 2BF Ginza Core Bldg., 5-8-20 Ginza, Chuo-ku. We glimpsed
an off-duty geisha for a few moments in the corridor outside.
Photo 13, Kirk and the sushistos. Yo-sei!
Photo 14, Harold working on his 5th hamachi.
Photo 15, Young women on the subway to
Shinjuku. Steve Olsen's theorem: life in the West is like living in a
harmonic potential well, while life in Japan is like living in a square well.
The two women on the right are typical of Steve's theorem. The women on the
left is one of the very few we saw who might aspire to a "harmonic" life style.
In the
East Shinjuku
area (Hanazono-jinja shrine) we caught the closing minutes
of a performance art
concert featuring a rock band in silver lame kimonos, before heading into the
Golden Gai for a quiet drink -- outside the square well.
Photo 16, Harold and a stray cat (a le Rousseau)
in the Togo-Jinja Shrine flea market, June 29, just past Takeshita Dori
(Harajuku Ave), Aoyama area.
Photo 17, Harold, on Takeshita Dori.
Photo 18, Kirk, and a "stray" dog in the
flea market (used kimono heaven).
Photo 19, Fishmongers, young and old, in the
Ameya Yokocho street market, underneath the railroads tracks
just south of Ueno station.
